"The Stables" is a market place with lots of goodies and food. Also, lots of horse statues."Los Establos" es un merdcado con muchas chucherias y puestos de comida. y también estatuas de caballos.

During my stay in London I saw several shows. Here are some images of some of the shows I saw.

My top favorite was "Priscilla Queen of the Desert." I ended up seeing it twice.

"The Lion King" is also one of my favorites, but I've seen it three times already. It's an old one but a good one.

"39 Steps" is an incredible farce. I saw it on Broadway, yet in London it was much funnier.

So, here's the deal... Stonehenge is a bunch of rocks... far away from you to even touch... so, you go, take one picture and get the hell out... Of course, that's not the case... most people spend HOURS looking at the rocks... HOURS... it's simply boring. Observe the pyramids, there's a lot to see on those... and you can touch.

He aquí el chisme de las famosas rocas. Están retiradad de tí, no las puedes tocar... asi que vas, te tomas una foto y ya. Sin embargo las cosa no es así. La gente se pasa horas... HORAS mirando las pinches rocas... aburrido. Para observar, las pirámides. Eso si tiene chiste.

My favorite abbey of all? Salisbury... architecture and details galore. I was really taken by this temple.

Mi iglesia favorita de todas: Salisbury... que arquitectura y que detalles... algo estupendo y maravilloso. Esta si me impresionó.

The arches are perfect and it's so heavy that the tower leans to one side just by a few millimeters.

Los arcos son perfectos y la torre principal es tan pesada que se "pandea" por unos cuantos milímetros.

The carvings on the walls is excellent... so many different statues, saints, etc... it's just magnificent.

The City of Bath is known for its Roman architecture and its Roman baths. There is a Royal Crest (above) and a Crest Circle (below).

Gay Street is one of the main streets in Bath. It's also the street where you find The Jane Austen Centre.

The top of the abbey, which is next to the Roman Baths. Just a sight to see.

Living quarters were close to Finchley Road Underground Station. The closest bus stop was CA on Finchley Road. All the images are of random places at different times and days.

The first castle I visited was WARWICK CASTLE, located in Warwick, UK, just a few miles from Stratford-Upon-Avon, Shakespeare's birthday.

It's an amazing campus with incredible architecture.

Close to campus is the Temple Chapel, the only round chapel.

Edinburgh is one incredible city to visit. It's divided into Old Edinburgh and new Edinburgh. This pic was taken from a top of a mountain, which I climbed on the first day I arrived. Then, it became my running path for the weekend.

This place is known as "The Pollocs" and it is the main office to the dorms where I was staying while visiting Edinburgh. This is a view from my window.

Holyrood Palace is the official residents of the monarch in Scotland. This is also the Queen's summer residence, where the entire family spends the month of August every year.

The Edinburgh Castle was build atop of a volcano rock. Visible from everywhere but not very reachable. This is the birthplace of King James VI of Scotland or King James I of England. Responsible for uniting the two nations into the UK. Also responsible for the first English publication of the Bible, hence "the James version."

This view is from a main street in the downtown area. It looks close but in reality is very far away. I zoomed the camera as much as possible.

At the entrance to the castle, you have a staircase, looks small but man, it's hard to climb. To the right you can see the a tunnel, that's the fourth and last door entrance before you actually get to the castle itself.

About 20 minutes (more like 35 by bus) from the city of Edinburgh you find a place that before the movie "The Da Vinci Code" hardly knew anything about. I'm talking about Rosslyn Chapel. This is the place in the movie where Prof. Langdon (Tom Hanks) and Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou) discovered that Sophie is a descendant of Mary Magdalene.

A unos 20 minutes (como 35 en camión) de la ciudad de Edinburgo, se encuentra un lugar que antes que saliera la película "El Código Da Vinci" casi nadie sabía de este. Me refiero a la Capilla Rosslyn. Este es el lugar que en la película el Prof. Langdon (Tom Hanks) y Sophie Nevue (Audrey Tautou) descubren que Sophie es decendiente de María Magdalena.

The architecture in this place and the attention to detail is just breathtaking. The ceiling is divided into four section of flowers, which have a meaning which I can't remember. The chapel also has more than 200 empty stands where statues used to be but they all are gone, and it is believe they are buried somewhere near by.

La arquitectura en este lugar y la importancia al detalle es impresionante. El techo está dividido en cuatro secciones de flores, las cuales tienen una simbolismo que no recuerdo. La capilla tiene 200 bases que están bacías pues sus estatuas han desaparecido. Se cree que están enterradas no muy lejos del lugar.

In the movie, Prof. Langdon explains the historical importance of this column known as "the apprentice column. The story is fascinating because it talks about how a student was able to build that column before his own teacher, who was trying to teach him a technique. The column opposite to this one is the "teacher's column" and it is less detail than this one. So, the teacher killed his student out of jealousy. As a punishment, the teacher's face is carved on the opposite wall, always looking at the column to be reminded that his student was much better.

En la película, el Prof. Langdon explica la importancia históric de esta columnoa conocida como "La columna del alumno." La historia dice que un estudiante fue capaz de pincelar esta columna más rápido y con más detalle que su propio maestro. The highlight of my day was watching WARHORSE, a play for young audiences with lots of puppets (the horses were puppets), lots of projections, and and incredible cast.

A colleague and I decided to take a train to Gloucester, a city about 90 miles from London. It is closer to the Welsh border and by the River Severn. One of the main attractions its the Gloucester Cathedral, which has served as a movie location for many projects, most recently, and famously, it stood as Hogwarts in Harry Potter Movies.

Un compañero de trabajo y yo decidimos tomar el tren e ir a la ciudad de Gloucester, aproximadamente 140 km de Londres. La ciudad se encuentra cerca de la frontera Welsh y junto al río Severn. Una de las principales atracciones es la Catedral Gloucester, la cual ha sido parte de muchas películas, ultimamente ha sido la escula Hogwarts en las películas de Harry Potter.

Here I am standing in the famous cloisters, but if you look closely, you might recognized this area as the hallways at Hogwarts, which is where Harry and his friends spend a lot of time going from class to class.

Aquí me encuentro parado en las famosas cavernas, pero si miran con cuidado se darán cuenta que esta área son los pasillos en la escuela de Hogwarts donde Harry y sus amigos se la pasan cuando van de clase a clase.

In the first Harry Potter movie, Harry and his friend cross a garden. I do believe they do it also in the second movie. Well, this is the garden with trees and everything. The garden is a square leading to all the hallways.

En las dos primeras películas de Harry Potter, Harry y sus amigos cruzan un jardín. Bueno, pues he aquí el famoso jardín, el cual los lleva a los pasillos de la escuela.

Rita arrived today and in order to keep her awake and adjust to the time change, I took her to "The Stables." There we ate and saw many wonderful things. In this picture, I'm at the entrance of Cyberdog, one of the coolest stores I've seen in a long time.

Rita llegó hoy y para mantenerla despierta y para que se ajustara al cambio de horario, la llevé a "Los Establos." Ahi comimos y vimos muchas cosas. En la primera foto, yo estoy a la entrada de "Cyberdog" una tienda espectacular.
Rita and I could not miss the opportunity to take pictures in front of the many horse statues found all over the market.

Today, our class field trip was to the Victoria & Albert museum to see the theatre collection. It was a good collection, costumes, props, sets, stages, drawings, wigs, and puppets.

Rita and I went to a matinee of "Macbeth," which was a re-imagining for a young audience. And yes, the show was produced for kids.

Rita y yo fuimos a una función de teatro por la tarde. La obra era "Macbeth" y era una inovación para niños. Y si, la obra tenía elementos increíbles, la cual la hizo muy entretenida para los jóvenes.

The set was a white canvas where the names of characters appeared through graffiti. As characters die, a check mark appeared next to their names. It was clever.

El escenario era una pared blanca donde los nombres de los personajes fueron escritos como graffiti. En el momento que un personaje moría, marcaban sus nombre, lo cual fue algo genial.

Today I was on-call, which meant I couldn't go anywhere because if there was some sort of an emergency, it was my responsibility to take care of the matter. Among the many things in "Trafalgar Square," you can find this gian ship in a bottle. It stands about 20 feet above ground.

One of the amazing things about London is its architecture, its narrow streets and the many statues found all over the city.

24 theaters in three hours or less. A picture at each theater and then some site visits.Of course the students had to do the work, my job was to keep an eye on them. But in the good spirit, I also took my picture in front of several theaters. In the photo, Rita and I stand in front of the famous Leicester Square Map, the yellow spots on it are theaters and other landmarks.

At night, the students, Rita and I went to see a bilingual play, (English/Pakistani) titled, "The House of Bilquis Bibi," which is an adaptation of "The House of Bernalda Alba." We loved the show, the set, the blocking, the costumes... EVERYTHING! It's amazing to see theatre in this city. Oh, the show wasn't on the West End, it was done by Hampstead Theater Company, which was only 10 minutes from our residence.In the picture below, I am sitting in front of the St Martin's Theater, which houses "The Moustrap" by Agatha Christie and it has been running for 58 years.

24 teatros en 3 horas o menos. Una foto en cada teatro y luego visitas a otros lugares. Claro está, los estudiantes tenían que hacer el trabajo mientras yo los observaba de lejos. Pero, en el espíritu de cooperación, yo también me tomé algunas fotos. En la primera fotografía estamos Rita y yo, frente al famoso mapa del Leicester Square, los cuadros amarillos representan los teatros u otros lugares de interés.

En la noche, la clase, Rita y yo fuimos a ver "La Casa de Bilquis Bibi" que es una obra bilingue (Inglés/Pakistania) basada en la obra española "La Casa de Bernalda Alba." Nos encantó la producción, los vestuarios, la dirección, la actuación, el trama, todo fue increíble. Es maravilloso ver tan buen teatro en esta ciudad. O, la obra no fue en el distrito teatral, si no es un teatro llamado, Hampstead Theater a solo diez minutos de nuestra residencia. En la segunda foto estoy sentado frente al St. Martin's Theater que presenta la obra "La Trampa" de Agathe Christie y ha estado en cartelera or 58 años.

This was the last official class day. Finals were given and students were happy to be done. At night, Rita and I went to see "The 39 Steps," a British farce I had seen on Broadway and wanted Rita to see. It was very funny and I found it much more entertaining here in London than when I saw it on Broadway. Maybe because it was British Farce and I had been around them for almost a month.

Afterward we went for drinks at G-A-Y, a drinking bar where we had a lot of fun.Hoy fue el último día oficial de classes. Se impartieron los exámenes finales y los estudiantes estaben felices porque terminaron las clases.

En la noche, Rita y yo fuimos a ver la obra "Los 39 Pasos," que es una farza británica y la cual yo había visto en Nueva York, pero quería que Rita la viera. La obra estuvo divertida y me gustó más que caundo la vi en Brodway, quizá porque era humor británico y yo ya tenía tiempo acomplándome a este.

Después de la obra fuimos a tomar una copas a G-A-Y donde pasamos un rato agradable.

Today the day was dedicated to work on my new one-man show, "F.A.T." After four hours of readings, editing, and discussions, the script looked very good.

In the evening, Rita and I joined one of Rita's friend and her family for a feast of Caribbean food. What a treat and what enjoyment. After dinner we went to a local gay club where the drag queens SING live! That was very cool.

El día de hoy fue dedicado a trabajar en mi nuevo unimonólogo titulado "F.A.T." Cuatro horas después de leer, editar y discutir, la obra quedó mucho mejor.

En la noche Rita y yo nos fuimos a cenar con una de sus amigas y su familia. Comida caribeña buenísima y para chuparse los dedos. Después de la cena fuimos a un club gay donde las "vestidas" cantaban en vivo. ¡Qué placer escuchar grandes talentos!

Convent Garden Market is located in the fringes of the West End. It is famous for their night food market and vegetable market. It is supposed to be "the place" to eat but Rita and I didn't had enough time to look for a good place so we ended up at an Italian Restaurant. Good food, bad service.

We saw "The Lion King" and of course, it is a great musical, yet, comparing it to the Broadway production, the UK production lack quality. Still, it was very entertaining but not as touching as the one I saw in Los Angeles.

Convent Garden Market se encuentra en las afueras de West End de Londres. El lugar es famoso por su comida de noche y su venta de vegetales. Se supone que es el "lugar para cenar" pero resulta que Rita y yo no teníamos tiempo así que terminamos en un restaurante Italiano. Buena comida, mal servicio.

Después vimos el musical "El Rey Leó," y claro muy divertido y profesional. Sin embargo no se compara a la producción de Broadway.A la británica le faltó calidad. Aún así estuvo buena pero no se compara a la que ví en Los Angeles, CA.

Two major events today: Priscilla Queen of the Desert with Rita and then dancing from midnight to 7am at Heaven. This is the way we decided to say "bye" to London. And the choices couldn't be more memorable. Priscilla was at the Palace Theatre in the West End and during one of the numbers, the cast comes down to the audience and you are invited onto the stage to dance. Rita and I ended up on stage, with the cast of Priscilla. Awesome!The gay club Heaven covered half the main dance floor with a pool and people were dancing in their underwear or swimming trunks. IT was very hot and sexy! We danced from midnight until 5:30am, but we didn't make it back to Hampstead until 7am.
Dos grandes eventos el día de hoy: El musical "Priscilla, Reina del Desierto" e ir a bailar a Heaven, un club gay desde la media noche hasta las 7 de la mañana. Priscilla se presenta en el Palace Theater en la zona de teatros, y durante uno de los números musicales, el elenco escoge personas del público para bailar. Rita y yo terminamos en el escenario, con el elenco de Priscila. Fue espectacular.
El Club Heaven tenía la mitad de su pista principal de baile convertida en una piscina. La gente bailó en calzoncillo, o traje de baño. Fue algo sexy y muy ardiente. Bailamos desde la media noche hasta las 5:30am pero no llegamos a Hampstead hasta las 7am.

My last day in London was dedicated to shopping, mainly for Miguel and some small souvenirs for family members. Since I went alone, I took the opportunity to walk the streets of Oxford Circus, the main shopping are of London (well, at least for the tourists.)

From the moment I left Hampstead to the moment I arrived home it took 24 hrs of traveling, this includes waiting at the airport in London, waiting for a connecting flight in Atlanta, waiting for Miguel to pick me up, missing the exit and ending in Lexington, driving to Louisville from Lexington, and getting stopped by the police for speeding. It was a hell of a trip, to be remembered and to be forgotten. What a mess! Yet, I made it safe and sound and I'm very glad I'm back, and happy to have been in London for a month.

Desde el momento de salir de Hampstead hasta el momento de llegar a casa, me tomó 24 hrs de viaje, esto incluye espear en el aeropuerto de Londres, esperar el vuelo de conneción en Atlanta, esperar por Miguel para que me recojiera, tomar la salida incorrecta y terminar en Lexington, maneajar de Lexington a Louisville, y ser parados por la policía por manejar a alta velocidad. Fue un viaje, largo, fastidioso y algo para recordar y olvidar. Un desastre! Aun así estoy muy contento de estar en casa. Y feliz de haber estado en Londres por un mes.

This year I was invited to the Kennedy Center for the Perfomring Arts, which is in Washington, DC. The reason is because a play titled, "Dear Harvey" was produced at San Diego State University and became an honorary mention at the American College Theatre Festival. The play is being translated to Spanish by yours truly and the production team wanted me to see the play so I could become more familiar with the work.

Este año me invitaron al Centro Kennedy para las Artes Escénicas, que se encuentra en la ciudad de Washington. La razón fue porque una obra titulada "Querido Harvey" la cual tuvo su producción en la Universidad Estatal de San Diego, fue invitada al Festival Nacional de Teatro Universitario. La obra se está traducciendo al español y yo soy el traductor oficial. El equipo artístico de la obra querían que you viera la producción para así familiarsarme más con el texto.

The entrace to the Kennedy Center has an incredible piece of art, depicting images of America. It is a piece of art with so much detail that it takes quite sometime to admire its artistry.

La entrada al Centro Kenedy tiene una escultura que muetras diferentes paisajes de los Estados Unidos Norteamericanos. Es una pieza de arte con mucho detally que, para admirar, se necesita mucho tiempo.

I find the different scenes very interesting. Encuentro cada escena muy interesante.

And some of them even daring. Y algunas un poco provocativas.

And something that made me proud to be Latino.... DON QUIJOTE DE LA MANCHA, standing tall in front of the Kennedy Center. Y algo que me hizo sentir orgulloso de ser latino... DON QUIJOTE DE LA MANCHA, parado en frente del Centro Kennedy.

The University of Wyoming hosts the "Matthew Shepard Symposium for Social Justice" every year. I was invited to do my one-man show this past April 2010. It was a very exciting experience, specially because I've been told I might have people protesting my play because "it promotes immigration." But alas, no one protested. I was kind of dissapointed.

La Universidad de Wyoming organiza "El Simposium de Justicia Social de Matthew Shepard" cada año. Yo fui inivtado en Abril 2010 a participar en este simposium, presentando mi monólogo. Esta experience me gustó mucho especialmente porque me dijeron que protestarían mi obra ya que promueve la imigración. Al final, nadie protestó, lo cual me desilucionó un poco.

One thing I discovered is the fact that an archeologist discovered a few fossils. The fossils are of a dinosaur. The archeologist was able to reconstruct the extinct animal. Here, a tin replica of the animals has been place next to the entrance to the musuem where people can see the found fossils.

Una de las cosas que aprendí es el hecho que un arqueólogo descrubió varios fósiles que pertenecían a un dinosaurio. El arqueólogo pudo reconstruir la bestia extinguida. Aqui vemos un réplica de lata, la cual se encuentra a un lado de la entrada al museo donde se pueden admirar los fósiles encontrados.

In March 2010, I was invited to do my one-man show at Wellesley College, which is located in the Boston area. It was a great experience.

En Marzo del 2010 fui invitado para presentar mi unimonólogo en el Colegio Wellesley que se encuentra en el área de Boston. Fue una gran experiencia.

Dr. Creef, chair of the Women's Study Department, Dr. Irene Mata, who was the person responsible for bringing Rita and me to Wellesley and Marisa who was the technical director for my show.

Well, I was in Mexico City for a theater conference, to visit family and to distract myself from work. While in Mexico City, I had the opportunity to attend the gay pride parade (my first one in Mexico). And while I have to say that it was ruined because of a very strong storm, I still had fun. Below are some of the pictures.

Here we are again. Day two of the snow storm and now things look much more beautiful than yesterday. Miguel and I took a walk around the neighborhood. Many people have no electricity. We are part of the lucky ones.

I love this picture. The background is part of a giant pine tree.
I found this small red flowers frozen in crystal ice. They look so pretty.
This is a tree. All trees look like this but this one had a form that called my attention.
Here is a closeup of the same tree. I just love how the ice and the snow hangs from the branches.
Isn't Miguel adorable holding the dogs who seem to be looking away from the camera? The tree behind him is huge and all frozen. Check the icicles.
Do you really believe Miguel is camera shy? Here, he posses between two trees.
I never imagine I was going to see my poor "pulgoso" covered in snow. Notice the icicles on the side mirrors. Notice the snow coming up to the front of the car. My car is stuck.
This photo reminds me of the entrance to "Narnia." The light post is on the far back. You can see it.

This tree shines because it the sun is hitting it. It the brown are the dead leaves but they are inside frozen ice.

This is the spot where Miguel is standing. We do that a lot. I take a picture of him; he takes a picture of me.Notice my coat. The snow is coming down fast. But we are enjoying it.
When we first arrived, this tree was very green and full of white flowers. It was my mark to identify our yard. Now, it is frozen.
These are treetops, the picture is taken from the street, looking onto the park who is a few feet below the street level. (The street becomes a tunnel over the park.
Here is our backyard once again. But this is early morning before I start walking on it. I love it.
Of course, we couldn't miss the opportunity to have our picture taken under a frozen tree. Don't we look happy? We even have matching scarves.

Hola Gente!

We finally had our first real snow storm and while everyone is not so happy with it, Miguel and I are trilled!!!

Today, we spent part of the day driving (against many people's desires) around town. We visit our favorite park (now covered on 10 inches of snow) and we also visited a park we often walked to with the dogs....

This tree is in Taylor Park, two blocks from our house where we take the dogs for quick walks early in the morning before going to work.

This is me, of course, at the stairs of the tunnel in Taylor Park.

This is Miguel at the same spot.The side of the house, our drive way from the back yard to the street. Can't drive the car forward anymore. The snow is too high for the car.

I figure this picture would give you a perspective on the snow. Our dogs are walking by footprints, which are about 4 inches deep.

This is Taylor Park once again. You can't see the running trails but there are two. The benches are around a fountain, which is completely covered in snow.

This is one of the parking lots at the National Park, about 5 blocks from hour house. People have been skating here... oh, the strangest of our lives.

For those who still don't know, I moved from Galt, CA to Louisville, KY. Many people asked why I would do such thing. The main reason: A new job. Still, people asked "WHY?" with this condescending tone because Kentucky doesn't compared to California. This is true, yet, Louisville is much better than MANY places in California, specially anything from Bakersfield to Sacramento, via the San Joaquin Valley. And that means Stockton, were I grew up, Galt, where I lived for a while and even Sacramento where I spent a lot of time. But enough of that, below is the highlight of the move from California to Kentucky and across 10 different states.

Para muchos de ustedes que aún no lo saben, me moví de Galt, California a Louisville, Kentucky. Muchos preguntaron el porque y la razón principal es un nuevo trabajo. Aún así muchos preguntaron de una manera muy déspota como diciendo que California no se compara con Kentucky. Esto es verdad, sin embargo Louisville es un lugar mucho mejor que muchos en California desde Bakersfield hasta Sacramento por ruta del Valle de San Joaquin. Y eso incluye Stockton donde crecí, Galt donde viví por un tiempo, y hasta Sacramento donde visité por mucho tiempo. Pero basta de eso, abajo presento algo del viaje desde California hasta Kentucky y los diez estados que crucé.

The first state we pass (after California of course) was Nevada. Other than the surrounding ares near RENO, Nevada is dry and very ugly.
After Nevada, came Utah. We like this state a lot.

The Great Salk Lake just before we reached Salk Lake City Utah and decided it was time to go to sleep after driving ONLY 673 miles.

Next came Wyoming. This state was green and rocky. Once we saw buffalo but weren't able to take pictures because we drove by too fast.
From sunny California, to dry Nevada, Rocky Utah to weather changing Wyoming. That's right that's those were the clouds as we drove by.

Then came the state we decided was the most beautiful of all the states we were passing by: NEBRASKA. Green and rivers all over the place. We really like the scene. We also passed by Iowa but that was just a very short distance (say 10 miles?.)

We passed by Kansas City at night and we got lost. Good thing it was already 12:50 am. Hardly any traffic. But once we found our way, we ended up in Independence, Missouri. By now, we had driven another 1,083 miles to our trip. This second day was very successful and also very enjoyable.

Thursday morning we were ready to keep on going. From Independence to St. Louis, Missouri where we had lunch. and then straight to Illinois, then Indiana and finally Louisville, Kentucky.

After lunch we drove through Illinois, which had corn fields galore.

Indiana was yet another very green state, just like Nebraska, pretty sights and lots of water lakes. We crossed Indiana into Kentucky and by the time we got home, we had driven another 506 miles. In total, 2,500+miles and three days with two sleepover nights.
Yeap! This is Kentucky.

We arrived in Louisville around 3 pm on Thursday, July 17. The last 100 miles of this 2,550 mile trip were the longest.

And yet, another view as we almost finished crossing the bridge.

Two days later, my mother, Miguel, my nephew, the dogs, and I went walking on the Riverfront. The photos below are more about the background than the people in them, hence the dark silhouettes.

The bridge on the back is the one we first crossed when we arrived. It is located on highway 64 from Indiana into Kentucky. The one closer, connects downtown Louisville, (on the left) with Indiana.

Do not tell me it isn't a beautiful sight. I tell ya, the sunsets are incredible.

This is yet, another bridge (there are four in total between the Indiana and Kentucky states, connecting two cities in the Ohio River. Another beautiful view from one of the bridges. (I still don't know the names of each, but I will soon enough.)

Steamboats take people on sight-seeing tours, for lunch or dinner and dancing. Pretty cool.

The Riverfront at about 9:30pm. People are still swimming ('cause it's hot) and we are going home to sleep ('cause we're tired.)

The house I got is a 3-bedroom, 2-story high white place, right off a main street known as Newburg. Our place is located on Deerwood Ave, almost on the corner. The first picture is the house from the edge of the front yard.

This picture is from the back porch onto the back yard (small garage on the right side.) I love the small fountain on the back and the shade under those huge trees, which are part of the back yard.

This past March I was in Austin, Tejas attending the National Association of Chicana/Chicano Studies Conference. It was a full week of expositions, chatter, gossip, panels, and drama, drama, drama. I had a lot of fun, specially during the presentation of my latest work: Vaqueeros.

Fue una semana completa de exposiciones, pláticas, chisme, paneles, y drama, drama, drama. I just arrived from a visit to Bellarmine University, which is in Louisville, Kentucky. The university is so beautiful, and the people are so nice. I truly enjoyed my visit. I hope I can go back.Acabo de llegar de visitar la Universidad de Bellarmine, que se encuentra en Louisville, Kentucky. Es un lugar hermoso, y la gente es muy amable. It's been a long time since I posted. I've been busy. But, I have kept track of my trips. I recently went to Lawrence, KS. I participated in a Latino Studies Conference. Fun? You bet! Cold? You bet! Me ready for the cold? NOT!!! I had to buy winter clothes... sad... but hey, here it is me, at the UK Student Union, standing next to the University mascot.Ha pasado algún tiempo desde que escribí en mi blog. He estado ocupado, pero se donde ando. Recientemente estuve en Lawrence, Kansas, participando en una conferencia de estudios latinos. Divertido? Claro. Frío? Claro. Yo preparado para la nieve? NUNCA!!!! Tuve que comprar una chamarra... locura, pero miren, aquí estoy en el centro estudiantil, parado junto a la mascota de la Universidad de Kansas.

The movie "Xanadu" was a bad movie so I didn't expect much from "XANADU" the musical. However, I was shocked! The show was funny and very well done. Cheyenne Jackson was, well, he was "all that and a bag of chips." Kerry Butler was amazing. However, Mary Testa and Jackie Hoffman stole the show.
La película "Xanadu" fue un desaster, así que no esperaba nada del musical "XANADU." Sin embargo, quedé anonadado! El show es chistoso y bien hecho. Cheyenne Jackson es, bueno, es un deleite de los dioses. Kerry Butler estuvo estupenda. Pero Mary Testa y Jackie Hoffman se robaron el show.

Curtains was fun. Not as excited as I expected to be but it was fun. David Hyde Pierce was, of course, incredibly funny. And so was the rest of the cast: Debra Monk, Karen Ziemba, Jason Danieley, Jill Paice, and Edward Hibbert to name a few.

El musical "Curtains" fue algo chistoso. No lo que esperaba pero entretenedor. David Hyde Pierce estuvo, por supuesto, excelente. Y también el resto del reparto: Debra Monk, Karen Ziemba, Jason Danieley, Jill Paice, and Edward Hibbert entre otros.

Of the 39 Broadway shows playing, the one I really wanted to see was ‘SPRING AWAKENING.’ Thanks to Kelly, whose roommate is a Broadway actor, I got tickets. The show is unlike anything I have seen in many years. The last time I had a “theatre life experience” was when I saw “Angels in America.” Since then, nothing I had seen was as powerful as Rudnick’s play. However, such dry period ended when I saw “SPRING AWAKENING.” Except for the choreography, which didn’t deserve to win a TONY (the show has no choreography but ‘stage movement’) the musical is an incredible, illuminating, educational, and elevating experience, something not seldom seen on Broadway.

De las 39 obras en Broadway, la única que yo quería ver era "SPRING AWAKENING." Gracias a Kelly, la cual tiene un compañero que trabaja como actor en Broadway, conseguí boletos. El musical es algo que no había visto en mucho tiempo. La última ves que tuve una experiencia tan iluminante en el teatro fue cuando vi "Angeles en América." Desde entonces, nada de lo que he visto se compara al poder de la obra de Rudnick. Sin embargo, este periodo "seco" terminó al ver "SPRING AWAKENING." Excepto por la coreografía, la cual no se merece el TONY que ganó (el musical no tiene coreografía sino movimiento escénico) el musical es increíble, iluminador, educacional, y una experiencia religiosa, algo que no se ve en Broadway todo el tiempo.

One of the shows I was “YELLOW FACE” by David Henry Hwang. The production was superb, but of course, the writing was excellent. What a show!!!

Uno de las obras que quería ver fue "CARA AMARILLA" (La verdad no se como van a traducir el título) de David Henry Hwang. La producción fue estupénda, pero la escritura de la obra fue lo mejor. ¡Qué obra!

The first show I saw was “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” The costumes, the lights, the sets, the acting, and everything were incredible. The theme of show, of course you might know by now. And except for the cheese Christmas songs sang by the “WHOS” I was entertained, so now, I don’t want to hear or see another “WHO”… ever again.

El primer show que vi fue "Como el Grinch se robo la navidad." Los vestuarios, la iluminación, el escenario, la actuación, y todo fue increíble. El tema del musical, me imagino que todos lo conocen. Y excepto por las canciones navideñas cantadas por los "WHOS" la obra me entretuvo. pero ahora, no quiereo ver o escuchar a otro "WHO"... por el resto de mi vida.
